A woman in eastern China ended up in the emergency room after crying uncontrollably over “Avengers: Endgame.”

The fan, a 21-year-old college student, bawled so much at the cinema that she started to hyperventilate, Ningbo Evening News reported.

The woman struggled to breathe and suffered from chest pains. She also had muscle spasms, which caused her fingers to stiffen like chicken claws.

“I saw the patient who was struggling to breathe. According to her peers, she cried too much, so she started hyperventilating,” a doctor at the Mingzhou Hospital of Zhejiang University said, according to China News.

Hyperventilation is a state of deep and rapid breathing that results in excessive oxygen and depleted carbon dioxide in the blood. Physicians typically advise pursed-lip breathing as a remedy, but more extreme cases warrant emergency medical attention.

After calming down, the woman received oxygen, which gradually helped restore her blood gases to normal levels. “By calming her emotions and giving her oxygen, we managed to control her breathing and alleviate her symptoms,” the doctor said.

“Avengers: Endgame” is the finale of a series of 22 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie, releasing in the U.S. on Friday, hit Chinese theaters two days earlier, where it grossed $107.5 million to lead a global opening of $169 million.

The die-hard fan, who lives in Ningbo, Zhejiang province has since been released from the hospital.

However, news of her reaction has just started making rounds on Weibo, with users commenting on her next-level devotion.

“It’s just a movie. She exaggerated.”

“The fact is, everyone empathizes differently.”

“In this case, she probably really needs to see a doctor.”

“I can’t understand how watching a movie can bring about this intensity.”

“Exaggerated. I just went to watch the movie. The cinema was so loud and there was no ‘atmosphere.’”
