Man Crushed to Death by Bullet Train in China

A man was crushed to death between a high-speed train and a railway platform after making an inexplicable decision to suddenly run across the tracks.

The man in his 30s, whose name has not yet been revealed, is believed to have realised too late that he was waiting on the wrong platform for the train, which pulled into Nanjing South Railway Station at just before 4pm local time.

Footage taken by numerous passengers at the train station in Nanjing, capital of East China’s Jiangsu Province, captured the moment the man makes a wild dash from the platform in a bid to reach the other side.

He appears at first to beat the approaching high-speed train , but ends up getting crushed by the locomotive when he tries to lift himself onto the platform.

It appears he did not managed to pull himself onto the platform in time.

According to witnesses, the victim remained conscious and struggled to free himself from the narrow platform gap until the authorities were called to rescue him.

Police officers as well as firefighters tried to keep him awake and conscious by continuously calling his name during the rescue.

However, he eventually lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene before being freed.

Firemen removed his body by breaking apart the concrete platform and creating enough space to pull him from the gap, reports said.

Nanjing authorities are now investigating the case.
