Hong Kong Actor Ma Defends Girlfriend in Scandal

HONG Kong actor Kenneth Ma has defended his actress girlfriend Jacqueline Wong, who was caught on video getting intimate with married singer Andy Hui in a taxi, Sin Chew Daily reported.

“I just want to say something on her behalf. She knew what she did was wrong. She actually wanted to speak to the media, but the company was worried that she might say the wrong thing as she was emotionally unstable,” he said.Ma said Wong, 30, was “young” and appealed to the media to give her space to deal with the matter.

Ma, 45, said he did not stay angry for long, though he did feel worried for the people implicated in the matter.

“I don’t wish for anyone to be hurt. As for myself, you don’t have to worry. I will focus on my work and continue filming,” he said.

Ma said he would not comment on Hui’s press conference, during which the latter expressed contrition and self-reproach for his indiscretion.

“I think no one on Earth except Mrs Hui (singer Sammi Cheng) has the right to comment on what he said,” he added.

The scandal has made headlines since Apple Daily broke the news on Tuesday with the release of the video, after which Hui, 51, called the press conference.

In another video published by the daily on Wednesday, Hui and Wong are seen exiting the taxi together for what is believed to be Wong’s home.
