China is Building an "Esports" Town

source: circa.com

Chinese investment conglomerate Tencent is building a town dedicated solely to esports in Wuhu, China.

Tencent is one of the largest internet holdings companies in the world, and the largest international parent of gaming subsidiaries.

They are known for their social media software, such as WeChat and QQ. They are also the parent company of notable gaming giants such as Riot Games and Supercell, developers of notable games "League of Legends" and "Clash Royale," respectively.

The town is expected to hold several gaming and business amenities. These would include a university focused primarily on esports, multiple business and data centers, as well as cultural communities and parks devoted to creative work.

When finished, Tencent aims to hold large-scale events at the national level.

There is no set date for the completion of the town, as the deal has just been made with the local government.
